Dúo de guitarras que reúne a intérpretes de dos generaciones consecutivas de extraordinaria influencia sobre sus pares.
Jim Hall, integrante del quinteto del baterista Chico Hamilton a mitad de los años cincuenta, y protagonista de notables sesiones en dueto junto al pianista Bill Evans (Undercurrent e Intermodulation) y formando parte del cuarteto sin piano del saxofonista Sonny Rollins (The Bridge), tuvo una singular significación sobre las grandes referencias de su instrumento en la actualidad surgidas desde fines de los setentas, incluido el propio Pat Metheny por supuesto; a su vez de gran ascendiente sobre los que lo sucedieron.
El álbum que los convocó contiene seis temas grabados en vivo en the Craftsmen's Guild en Pittsburgh y otros registrados en estudio; de los cuáles algunos pertenecen a uno u otro, dos al contrabajista Steve Swallow (Falling Grace) y al guitarrista Attila Zoller (The Birds and the Bees), dos son standards (All the Things You Are y Summertime), y el resto una serie de breves improvisaciones.****

Jim is featured to the left channel, Pat to the right.

Cold Spring and All Across the City were arranged by Jim; The Birds and the Bees, Summertime and Don't Forget were arranged by Pat; Ballad Z was arranged by Gil Goldstein, and all others arranged by Jim and Pat.

Two icons of the 6-strings (even if we remember that Mr Metheny uses to play guitars of 6, 7, 12, and 1000 strings).
