Earth Wind & Fire - Powerlight

El problema con Powerlight y el resto de los álbumes de Earth Wind & Fire desde los ochentas en adelante, específicamente a partir de Raise! (1981), es que intentaron adaptar su sonido a las nuevas modas; una música inescindiblemente unida a su contexto de gestación, completamente identificada y dependiente del sonido urbano popularizado en las calles de ciudades como Memphis, Detroit o Philadelphia, de Estados Unidos, en los sesentas y setentas.

Entonces, ese necesario aggiornamento, según las necesidades impuestas por el mercado, estaba inevitablemente destinado a fracasar.

Sin embargo, Powerlight no es un mal disco porque el talento de Earth Wind & Fire se cuenta por quilates.

Se distingue la fabulosa Side by Side, y también merecen destacarse: Fall in Love with Me, Straight from the Heart y Miracles, entre otras.***1/2
